Voices of the Wolfpack: An Interview with Ezgi Dilik
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a professional athlete? What about life as a coach? Now you can find out as Ezgi Dilik shares her experience and advice with us in an interview.
Libby Meldrum and Addison Witkowski sat down with Ezgi Dilik, a former professional volleyball player and current Assistant Coach of Thompson Rivers University’s Women’s Volleyball Team, eager to delve deeper into her journey. They explore her transition from player to coach, touching on both the highs and lows.
Ezgi’s roots in the sport run deep, nurtured by her mother — a volleyball coach in Turkey. Early exposure as a kid set Ezgi on her volleyball path. She thrived as a setter for both the Turkish National Team and multiple professional teams, relishing the strategies of the game.
Curiosity about coaching emerged within her, wanting to see the game through a different lens, yet, the path to coaching was not a foreseen one.
Now, at TRU, Ezgi finds fulfilment in creating bonds between coaches and players, drawn from a dual perspective. Further, she speaks on the value of being authentic, trusting, and sincere as a coach.
Finally, she expresses the importance of embracing one’s dreams, staying true to oneself, and remembering the essence of why they started. For Ezgi, it is a journey of empowerment for herself and those she guides.
